SPA ETF joins Ringkjobing Bank to offer unique capital protected US equities investment

04/04/2008

- Invests in top 40 US equities based on unique MarketGrader methodology
- First time MarketGrader made available to Danish investors
- Initial offering closes on Friday 11th April

Monday 7 April 2008: the UK-based pioneering ‘second generation’ Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) provider, SPA ETF Plc, has joined up with local Danish bank Ringkjobing Bank to offer a capital protected US equities investment based upon SPA ETF’s unique MarketGrader methodology -  the first time that it has been made available in Denmark.

Investors will gain access to a portfolio of the 40 best US stocks as picked by the MarketGrader 40 index, which is a fundamentally driven index that analyses a universe of over 5,700 US equities using 24 quantitative filters and places the best stocks into an equally weighted and regularly re-balanced portfolio.

Many Danish investors are currently concerned about preserving their capital investment due to the global economic environment and the capital protection element of this new investment opportunity is in part a response to investor concern – allowing investors to gain from any upside over the long-term, whilst protecting their initial investment.

This opportunity is available to Danish investors until Friday 11th April only.  The investment period for the product is six years, ending in 2014, and the minimum investment is to be 10,000 Danish Kroner. Potential investors should contact Kurt Olesen at Ringkjobing Bank for more information.

Daniel Freedman, Director at SPA ETF Plc, comments:

“We are very pleased to be working with Ringkjobing Bank to bring a capital protected product to Danish investors which allows them to invest, for the first time, in the top 40 US equities based on our unique MarketGrader stock selection process.

“Currently the oversold US market represents a significant buying opportunity for investors and the MarketGrader 40 index is well positioned to take advantage of this.

“We are hoping to issue further similar structured products shortly with local banks across Europe - we are currently considering a number of possible structures.”

Kurt Olesen from Ringkjobing Bank comments:

“We are very excited about offering Danish investors, for the first time, access to the 40 top US equities based on the MarketGrader system, but with the added benefit of capital protection. This is valuable and unique opportunity at a time when many Danish investors are concerned about preserving capital.”

The MarketGrader indices currently serve as the underlying investment process for Exchange Traded Funds provided by SPA ETF. They allow investors access to US equities and are available on the London Stock Exchange, Borsa Italiana and American Stock Exchange.

ETFs can be traded in real-time on the world’s stock exchanges and savvy investors can buy and sell throughout the day at live prices rather than limiting themselves to the end-of-day price points available for open-ended fund investors. Investors also benefit from improved transparency as information on the securities’ underlying assets is published daily.

Demonstrating the company’s growing presence as a global provider of ETFs, SPA ETF Plc recently listed on the Borsa Italiana, following its listings last year on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and American Stock Exchange (Amex).

Six SPA MarketGrader ETFs exist on the LSE, Amex and Borsa Italiana:

• SPA ETF Plc MarketGrader 40:
• SPA ETF Plc MarketGrader 100:
• SPA ETF Plc MarketGrader 200:
• SPA ETF MarketGrader Small Cap:
• SPA ETF MarketGrader Mid Cap:
• SPA ETF MarketGrader Large Cap

Each of the SPA ETF Plc MarketGrader 40, 100 and 200 are based on MarketGrader’s ‘core’ indices of top-rated North American securities. Whilst the SPA ETF MarketGrader Small Cap, Mid Cap and Large Cap are ‘cap’ indices based on the top 100 North American stocks within each market capitalisation category.
